Mario does an awesome job!!!

LANDMARK IV: MANILA GICLEE

signing out

off too Sacramento - DC and to the US Embassy in the Philippines

I had to chance to meet the owners who run this cool operation on 6056 W Jefferson Blvd.
I am really happy with the results and the time they got the project done- really clean and smooth.
I was told, Mario one of the fabricators does an awesome job and he is indeed rad!!! I am really grateful and proud to have a piece residing at the US Embassy in the Philippines. Along the collection of Artist included are Leo Valledor, Carlos Villa and Ted Lincoln - people whom I admire and respect. Carlos Villa has been to me; a great Mentor, friend and many ways like a father to me. If he was alive today he would probably give me a warm smile and offer to get some breakfast at some divey filipino joint... and afterwards chuck a laugh. Carlos this one is for you. I miss you dearly and Love you!!!

Jayaratne Boy's Portrait

Jayaratne Boy's Portrait install

I did a commission piece for Jith & Ino Jayaratne, a beading portrait of their two young boys. I was really impressed with their set up. Their home decor was fabulous. Modern, Minimal and hits of colored art objects which really lit up the place. There were a few empty walls which Jith mentioned that he and his wife was looking at art to fill them. I am thankful and honored to be one the artist to have artwork reside in their lovely home. Big THANKS to the Jayaratne family for making this happen!!!

GETTING MY INK ON W/ EM SCOTT

I was fortunate to get my ink done by Em Scott @ Under The Gun Tattoo, she was very precise and the artwork was tedious and detailed. The artwork is the furrowed brow of David -Michaelangelo's masterpiece sculpture and portrayal of not a triumphant victor, but as a thinking, resolute being-- the preconditions  for victory. Halftones make up the picture. 4 and 1/2 hours later, i was really stoked of the outcome. i am really thankful she was able to actualized the concept and artwork. Thnxs Em for being awesome at what you do !!!

The Making of THE BEAD MACHINE@WOODLAB DESIGNS

in the process of drilling 5625 holes in this piece of aluminum

4" pegs

CUT TO SIZE

FIRST PLATE

FIRST PEG... 5624 TO GO...

IN THE WORKS...

I am working with a buddy of mine whom i went to school with back in the days of grad school. Jeremy is helping

me fabricate a Bead Machine. Using the general template and techniques of fusing beads together we created a

a machined jig that will allow me to work with multiple stacked layers of fusion beads

on the same image in a proficient and timely manner.

Basically a peg board with longer pegs and more work space to create reproductions.

Jeremy has been so kind to document the making of this process, The Bead Machine in the makingSo far

things are coming along smoothly.

I would like to share this with you and give a shout out to his shop out in Humboldt County for an awesome job. His shop is called WoodLab Design and the link to their Facebook:
